What to Eat Drink for Boudoir

A boudoir photoshoot is more than just photos in lingerie. They're empowering sessions for rockstars of any age! So, to make sure you’re 100% comfortable during your shoot, I put together a list of things to eat and drink before your session to help you feel your best. Part of looking and feeling your greatest is what you eat and drink to nourish yourself. Use these tips to your session ready for a great experience!

Hydrate with Plenty of Water

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. We’re always told to drink plenty of water and I know it’s easier said than done. But, drinking plenty of water before your shoot is important! Not only does it help you feel better, more refreshed, and less tired, water does wonders for your skin

A week before your boudoir photography shoot, make sure you double your water intake. Trust me, you'll love the way you feel and the way your skin glows! Water also helps you feel less bloated, promotes good digestion, and keeps everything moving smoothly. Feel free to bring a water bottle or two to your session.

Cut Back on Alcohol and Carbonated Drinks

It’s okay to indulge in a cocktail or a carbonated beverage, but consider waiting until after your shoot for your next sip. Why? Because alcohol and carbonated drinks can cause bloating. And we all know how bloating makes us feel.

The carbonation and sugar in these drinks add extra gas to your body, which creates that bloated feeling, and sometimes, it’s visible. Bloating can also make you feel uncomfortable. Avoid alcohol and sodas for a few days before your shoot to help you feel your best! Once you're finished with your session, you may just want to pop a bottle of champagne to celebrate the beauty you are.

Add Collagen to the Mix

All of our bodies produce collagen. It's a protein that, among other things, helps maintain skin elasticity and makes it look more youthful

As we age, our bodies produce less and less collagen. So, if you're one of my more mature clients, (or even a younger client looking for a skin boost), adding collagen supplements to your tea, smoothies, or coffee will help reduce fine lines and give you that youthful glow!

Bring Healthy Snacks to Your Boudoir Photography Shoot

Your boudoir photography shoot is a day all about feeling sexy, strong, beautiful, and confident. So, if part of that is eating a few snacks in between shots, then go for it! I don't want you to feel tired or uncomfortable at all while we work together.

If you’re going to bring snacks, I suggest something healthy that will give you energy and keep you smiling! Snacks like bananas, celery and peanut butter, and unsalted nuts are excellent choices. They taste great and will help you feel great!

Take a Break from Heavy Carbs

As I mentioned above, eating healthy snacks is a great way to not only feel good but look good during your boudoir photography shoot. The number one food to avoid? Heavy carbs. Trust me, cutting out carbs makes me sad too. Why do they have to taste so good? Eating carbs before your shoot can make you feel bloated, though (noticing a theme?) and as I said before, you don’t want to feel uncomfortable on the big day.

A few days before your shoot, consider cutting back on meals with a lot of bread and pasta, like pizza and spaghetti. Instead, opt for leafy greens and lean protein. Your carb cut-back will help your stomach feel healthy and it will also (surprise, surprise) make your skin look better too!

Make Sure to Eat Before Your Session

One of my number one boudoir photoshoot tips is to make sure you eat before your session. The last thing you want to do is feel hangry when you show up for a great experience! You'll need energy throughout the day for the different poses you'll be doing along with any wardrobe changes!

I also never condone starving yourself, no matter what. Not eating will never do you any good, and truthfully, it just makes you miserable. Plan to eat a light and healthy meal before your session so you can have a great time and feel good!

So, are you ready to feel like the bombshell you are? Let’s set up your custom glam session. The reason I love what I do is the fact that I can help anyone of any age look and feel like their most confident self. So to make sure you're fully ready for your shoot, make sure you're eating well beforehand!
